Samsung Galaxy Ace is the newest addition to the luxurious mobile phones of the galaxy family. This new kin is often compared to the Iphone 4. But if you would take a closer view at it, the Galaxy Ace is more handy and smaller than the Apple’s iPhone 4. Although smaller in size, it shares the same screen width with the Iphone 4, approximately 3.5 inches. It has an almost plastic like exterior, as compared to the sleek and elegant look of the Iphone 4. Galaxy Ace has a curvy backside clad in rubber material, which makes it super handy.

It is equipped with a very responsive touch screen. However, like any other smartphones, it also has some downsides. One of which is that its touch sensitive buttons dies out every six seconds. Its brother, the Samsung Galaxy S, has a crystal clear video playback while this newest addition somewhat lacks screen quality. It is inferior in comparison to the Super AMOLED screen of the Samsung Galaxy S. It is equipped with a five-mega pixel camera that works well with snapshots with scene modes. The only drawback of the Galaxy Ace is that it does not have any HD video player. It is quite similar to the exterior of the Samsung Galaxy S, less the silver piping.

It has four primary applications, calling, contact, messaging and menu. Its task manager widget enables you to optimize the battery life. You can clearly see how much power you have running in the background. It also comes with four pre-installed fun games. You can follow-up conversations easily with the threaded view of the messages. It also features typing in landscaped view, if in case you’d find it easier.

If you haven’t purchased this phone but you are very interested, try checking out samsung galaxy nz, cellphone stores or other mobile phone shopping sites online and find the cheapest price offer available.

Alternative sources of energy is all the rage nowadays as the environmental impact of power generation using non-renewable resources such as natural gas, coal and petroleum is becoming a global concern. Renewable energy sources are becoming more popular today because they promise less impact on the environment and cheaper cost than the ordinary electricity created by power plants. One of these alternatives is the thermal energy.

Thermal energy defined

The most common definition of thermal energy is this: it is a part of the entire total internal energy of a sample of matter or a thermodynamic system which includes various forms such as the chemical energy and nuclear energy which are considered forms of potential energy. Thermal energy is created and measured by any kind of heat. Heat is caused by the increase in the velocity or activity of the substance’s molecules. These activities cause the temperatures to rise.

How does thermal energy work?

Thermal energy is the kinetic energy of the atoms, molecules or particles in plasma that originates from disordered motion of the particles in a bigger ensemble. The energy is equally divided among the quadratic degrees of freedom of the particles.

It is important to take note that thermal energy is different from heat. In physics, heat is only a characteristic of the process of energy exchange. In addition, matter does not contain heat—it contains thermal energy that can be transferred or converted within a system. In the laws of thermodynamics, energy in the form of heat can be transferred from one concrete object to another. For example, when you place a pot of water over fire, the water will slowly become warm until it reaches the boiling point that makes the molecules move very fast.

How did humans use thermal energy?

By having a good understanding of the principles of thermodynamics, humans have been able to harness the natural sources of heat to generate thermal energy. The sun, volcanoes, geysers and ocean can be considered as sources of thermal energy. In fact, humans are trying different ways to switch to sustainable and renewable sources of energy to decrease dependence on non-renewable sources. As the fossil fuel resources become rapidly depleted, there is no other way to save the planet but to use alternative power sources such as the thermal energy to provide power to the various activities of humans. There are several natural sources of thermal energy on this planet, we just need to harness them the proper way.

The cost of electricity continue to increase as years pass by, and because of that people are now looking for good alternatives for the much-needed power in households and even industries. The environmental impact of power generation using non-renewable resources are now starting to take their toll on the planet, causing some major climate changes and harm to humanity. One of the most promising renewable energy sources is wind power, and like any other forms of alternative power generation, electrical power generated by the wind has some advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages:

Wind power is very abundant and can be availed completely for free.

Using wind turbines does not generate radioactive wastes and pollution. Its construction also has less impact on the environment.

It can be used to provide electricity to homes and facilities which are self-reliant. This does not need fuels and other materials. Also, when natural disasters happen, the people with windmills on their homes will not lose their electricity.

Wind power can create enough energy for a huge number of people with the use of bigger turbines which are connected to electrical grids. People can still gain the advantage without owning or maintaining the pieces of equipment.

Wind power is considered as a “permanent energy” which would still exist even if the sun has finally reached its end.

The cost of wind power turbines for residential purposes has significantly decreased while its efficiency has dramatically increased.

Wind energy is considered as a great supplement to other sources of renewable energy such as the hydro and solar power.

Power generation using the wind does not use any non-renewable resources such as natural gas, oil and coal.

This type of energy is readily available in any parts of the world.

Disadvantages:

Since some people consider the turbines to have an unpleasant appearance, they do not opt to use wind power.

Wind turbines can be damaged by storms because of their thinness and height. Most damages on wind turbines are caused by lightning according to the National Lightning Safety Institute.

The blades of the turbines can hit other biodiversity creatures such as insects and birds.

There are some wind turbines that generate loud noises. These are common especially when the speed of the wind is slow.

Wind power is very promising because of its advantages. It also provides people with a self-reliant and inexpensive way to generate electricity. On top of that, wind turbines require minimal maintenance.

Half a century has passed but we have yet to find the best alternative energy source that can completely replace the use of fossil fuels. Although solar energy has showed great promise, only a few countries have been harnessing its top potential. Good news is that, there are now a number of alternative energy companies that are exploring other possible energy sources and employing the use of new technologies to be able to tap into their potential of lowering our dependence to the use of fossil fuel. Some of the alternative energy companies that are leading the way to a greener and cleaner Earth are as follows:

A123 – A123 Systems is a known developer of batteries made from nano-scale lithium-ion phosphate. These batteries have been modified to be able to boost their battery power. This company aims to provide green energy solutions directed to the commercial market. The company also boasts of their advance energy storage designed for electric-powered vehicles.

Green Mountain Energy – Founded in 1997, this company aims to change the way power is produced. Green Mountain Energy is, in fact, the pioneer in the use of cleaner energy to both businesses and independent consumers. Today, this company has now become the leading provider of carbon offset solutions and has already helped in setting up over fifty wind and solar facilities across America.

Sun Power Corporation – This corporation currently has the highest sunlight to electricity conversion rate amongst all the existing solar photovoltaic manufacturers.

Achates Power – The company aims to produce clean-burning diesel engines that they plan to supply to automakers. Engines made by Achates are capable of delivering more power but consume lesser space. Achates engines can also enhance a car’s mileage up to one hundred miles per gallon.

AltaRock Energy – The company aims to tap the potential of geothermal energy by boring wells up to four miles deep. AltaRock has been boring wells all over the US not just in locations that are known to be geologically active.

BioFuelBox – Known for their fuel conversion project using waste from potato-processing plants in Idaho, the company is committed to turn oil laden sludge, which are by-products of factories, industrial plants, and sewage systems, into odorless, clear and useable diesel fuel.

While most of these companies have still a lot to prove in terms of alternative energy technology, they all show great potential in successfully reducing our consumption of fossil fuel. If they are successful with their green technology endeavors, it would be possible that in the near future we would be able to use these alternative energy sources to their full potential.

Renewable sources of energy are becoming more popular nowadays because of the global warming issue. In many countries, there have been grants to fund the installation of solar power systems at home. It is not unusual for a number of government agencies to allocate just a limited amount each year for the power system, but in this age, they are now reviewing the allocation of budgets for the use of renewable energy sources. Incentives are provided but governments all around the world still need to embrace subsidizing the renewable energy market because they believe that the grants could distort it and may affect the development of the energy industry.

There are three remarkable countries that are channeling full attention to the renewable energy sources.

Canada

This developed country is giving emphasis on energy conservation and efficiency to meet several objectives. Majority of the financial incentives are channeled to water heating and solar space in industrial developments although financial assistance is also available for solar hot water systems at homes. Property owners of existing homes can avail of federal grants by leveling up the energy efficiency of their houses and reducing their environmental impact. On the other hand, new homes must match the R-2000 standard set by the government for higher energy efficiency.

United Kingdom

In the early part of 2007, the existing grant scheme was ended and a revision of the Low Carbon Buildings grant program was introduced for householders. Before a homeowner can apply for the grant, the homeowner must undergo through several energy efficiency evaluation to make sure that he or she is minimizing the energy requirements. The maximum grant is £2,500 (solar photovoltaic system) and £400 (solar thermal hot water system). Other technologies may be installed by the owner in the same property but the maximum grant is fixed at £2,500.

United States of America

This country has a combination of state, federal, local and utility grants and incentives for the solar power systems for homes. The incentives are available for different home energy efficiency savings as well.

State and local - Several schemes are offered, and homeowners are recommended to go to the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) to gain access on the these incentives.

Federal – In 2008, the Federal government provided a tax credit of up to two thousand dollars for installing solar power systems. This covered the use of photovoltaics, fuel cells, solar water heating and other solar technologies.
